A nice pair of bright-cut decorated Irish sterling silver sugar tongs, they a flower design (one of the three most typical found on Irish bright-cut decoration) and were made in the late eighteenth century by John Shiels in Dublin. As is also typical for Irish sugar tongs, they are much larger than their English counterparts. They have a period monogram 'GS'. They are in very good condition.
Hallmarked to bow.
They measure 16cm long and weigh 35 grams.
