Designed by silversmith Christoph Widmann in 1919, the Rose of Hildesheim silverware was inspired by the Rose Tree of Hildesheim. The Rose is still alive and is now more than 1000 years old. The silverware features a rose design on the finial, with the rose stem continuing down the handle and onto the blade. It became a popular design the was replicated by many firms and they were a popular tourist item from the 1950s onwards.
This example is a set of 6 cake forks in 800 standard silver. They are in great condition.
Each stamped with a maker's mark and 800.
They measure 13.5cm long and weigh a combined 91 grams.
