Originally from Birmingham, Francis Alfred Flint arrived and set-up shop in Hobart (via Adelaide) in 1906. He made a lot of Australian themed gold and silverware, including shell spoons up until the outbreak of WW2. Like a number of jewellers at the time, he made items for the tourist market were items made from the local Tasmanian Trigonia shell. This spoon was made by FA Flint in Hobart and is a good example of sterling silver and the local shell. It is quite large for this type of spoon. It is in good condition.
Stamped 'F.A.F' and 'SILVER'.
It measures just over 13.5cm long.
